Denver – Today, Food & Water Action, the political affiliate of Food & Water Watch, endorsed Andrew Romanoff for U.S. Senate. The endorsement is based on a candidate questionnaire and interviews highlighting the organization’s priorities, including fracking, climate change, public water and sustainable agriculture. This is Food & Water Action’s first endorsement of a candidate for U.S. Senate.
Food & Water Action has more than 25,000 members and supporters in Colorado, and plans to mobilize its statewide network of volunteers to turn out voters ahead of the June 30th primary.
Upon announcing the endorsement, Food & Water Action National Climate Organizing Manager Thomas Meyer issued the following statement:
“Andrew Romanoff is the leader Colorado needs to take on the fossil fuel industry and protect our food, water and climate. Coloradans deserve a senator who will put their best interests ahead of corporate profits, and who will work to create a healthy future for all people and generations to come.
“For eight years as governor, John Hickenlooper did the bidding of the fracking industry. The people of Colorado, and the global climate that we all depend on, can’t afford Hickenlooper in the U.S. Senate. The choice in this primary couldn’t be clearer. We are thrilled to endorse Andrew’s campaign and to mobilize our supporters to get out the vote in this critical race.”
