State Representative Donavan McKinney grew up in, and now represents Lansing, a northeast Detroit community that has been harmed by environmental injustice. Donavan himself grew up with asthma caused by industrial pollution. His three young children are each now suffering from asthma themselves. In Lansing, Rep. McKinney has worked to hold polluters accountable and to replace Michigan’s lead water lines.
