Why We Fight

Our food, water and climate are under constant assault by corporations who put profit over the survival of humanity. They have seized control of the very institutions that were built to protect us. We mobilize people to reclaim their political power, hold our elected officials accountable, and resist corporate control — ensuring we all have the essential resources we need to thrive.

This is a fight we must win, because this planet is the only one we get.

Who We Are

Food & Water Action, the political and lobbying arm of the national advocacy group Food & Water Watch, mobilizes people to build political power to move bold and uncompromised solutions to the most pressing food, water and climate problems of our time. We work to protect people’s health, communities and democracy from the growing destructive power of the most powerful economic interests.

The Need for Bold Climate Action

Winning elections is a critical tactic in creating the change we need to see in the world. 2024 presents our biggest opportunity yet to create a positive impact on American democracy and the health of our planet.

Just like in every election before, fossil fuel corporations, agribusiness giants, and water privatizers will spend millions to elect people who put profit over people. They understand how much is at stake, and will use their corporate money to influence the election with misinformation.

Their platform is a parade of horrors. If they win, we will continue to watch them:

  • Prop up the fossil fuel industry;
  • Expand fracking;
  • Double down on climate-killing factory farms;
  • And snatch away our right to clean water by privatizing our water systems.

Ideally, we’d curb greenhouse gases immediately to stay below the 1.5°C warming threshold of the Paris Agreement Goal. If world leaders won’t act to make that happen now, then our next best course of action is electing a stronger Congress who’ll enact bold protections by 2030.

Bottom line: we cannot afford to let climate deniers win more seats.

We’ll Fight to Protect Progress

Now is the time to stand together to fight for our democracy and to save the progress we’ve made on the most urgent issues of our time. Climate deniers will stop at nothing to meet their goals, and we must preserve the three things standing in their way.

Defend the democratic

institutions that deliver on the urgent demands of people, not corporations.

Guard the progressive majority

that will get us to 100% renewable energy, stop corporate agribusiness mergers, and deliver safe drinking water.

Empower community leaders like you,

so that we’re ready to hold elected officials accountable once we’ve won.

Our Plan Only Works If You’re With Us

Food & Water Action is fighting to keep the up-and-coming climate deniers, fossil-fuel-puppets, and corporate authoritarians from taking power in Washington.

We aren’t satisfied with just playing defense. We know that to truly change our climate trajectory, we must elect climate champions and democracy defenders—people who will protect our most precious resources and protect our fundamental right to organize, mobilize, and speak out on the issues that impact us.

We have a plan for the next election. We need you with us.

Take An Active Role In Our Plan

Building Power In Key Areas

Food & Water Action has been building power in battleground Congressional districts like Johnson City, IA, Tucson, AZ, and Pittsburgh, PA.

Leveraging That Power To Win

We use our national volunteer network and grassroots infrastructure (built in key districts) to knock doors, make calls, register new voters, and handwrite letters to remind people to vote.
