How do we build the power we need to elect climate champions and check Trump’s power? Learn how you can get involved and make the greatest impact!

This election season, Food and Water Action is building power behind some of the most important races in the country, including battlegrounds in Iowa, New York, Pennsylvania, and California. A huge piece of that work is having one-on-one conversations with voters.

In a time of rampant social media and television ads, nothing beats a conversation for getting out the vote. Before Election Day, Food & Water Action will knock on 167,000 doors and make 200,000 calls to voters. So far, we’ve already dialed 50,000 voters across California, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, and all those candidates we made calls for won their primaries!

Now, as the dust settles on the primaries and Election Day approaches, we’re ramping up our efforts even further. At an August Food & Water Action webinar, we spoke with Food & Water Action staff as well as social psychologist Dr. Otis Fulton about how we can make the biggest impact.

Dr. Fulton emphasized that the most effective way to get others involved is by inviting the people we know to join us in doing the work. As he told us,

These are people who know you; they trust you. That gives you an opportunity that no television commercial, email campaign, or Facebook ad can duplicate… Millions of people are concerned about something and never do anything about it. Connection can turn concern into a first action.

What could those first actions be? Anything from calling voters to knocking on doors to becoming a member of Food & Water Action! By inviting the people in our networks to do the work with us, we can create a ripple effect that helps us take back the House, elect climate champions, and rein in Trump.
