Today, Food & Water Action announced its endorsement of Tom Steyer for California governor. 

The group – a national leader in climate, food, water, and democracy advocacy – is backing Steyer, who has a track record taking on Big Oil and has made climate change a central pillar of his campaign, including endorsing California’s Make Polluters Pay legislation.

With the endorsement, Nicole Ghio, California Director at Food & Water Action issued the following statement: 

“Californians know better than anyone that we need a climate champion in the governor’s office. Climate change is costing our state billions and fossil fuels are polluting our air and water. That’s why Californians have come together to ban fracking, create health and safety buffers between new oil and gas wells and communities, and to demand corporate polluters, not regular people, pay for the damage they contribute to. And that’s why we need someone like Tom Steyer to protect Californians and our environment and aggressively fight back against Donald Trump’s drill, baby, drill agenda.”
