National environmental groups Food & Water Action and Climate Hawks Vote are endorsing Sarah Klee Hood’s campaign for New York’s 22nd Congressional District.

Whether as a local elected official, a clean energy entrepreneur, or on the campaign trail, Sarah Klee Hood has been a leading voice for building out a renewable energy economy in upstate New York. Sarah was also a leading voice in the successful fight to win a moratorium on cryptocurrency mining in New York. She narrowly lost the 2022 primary election for this district after cryptocurrency entrepreneur Sam Bankman-Fried spent $500,000 to defeat her; Bankman-Fried has subsequently been convicted of a slew of financial crimes. She has also embraced the legislative goals laid out in the Green New Deal Champions pledge, and signed the No Fossil Fuel Money pledge.

The other candidate in the Democratic primary, State Senator John Mannion, has been a consistent hindrance in the fight for clean energy in New York. Mannion voted against the aforementioned cryptocurrency mining moratorium. He was also the only Democrat to vote against the Build Public Renewables Act, and he was one of two Democrats to vote against the NY HEAT Act, the climate movement’s priority legislation in 2024.
